You all know I’m always happy to write blog posts specifically requested by you, and this was one of them! I don’t actually have a post about my morning routine specifically, and when I was thinking about writing it I had some pause because I don’t know if I do anything particularly novel and not every day looks the same now that I have a child, but I will give a general look at what a typical morning might look like! I do think it’s interesting to see how people operate so hopefully you’ll find this post at least interesting in the fact its a little peek into someone else’s life 🙂
My {Current} Morning Routine
I say “current’ because over the past couple years, what I do in the morning has changed dramatically and more than once from pregnancy into motherhood and now with a toddler. My schedule throughout the day, not just in the morning, is really dominated by her schedule so it seems to shift whenever hers does or just to accomodate whatever that day has in terms of work-at-home and stay-at-home mom duties. Here’s what it’s like right now!
7:00 – Wake up. Probably snooze a couple times 🙂 There are occasions when I may run in the morning and when I do that I wake up at 6 instead. Brush teeth, wash face (I use this cleanser and then put on this vitamin C serum and this moisturizer).
7:30 – Wake up Emma
7:45 – Make Emma’s breakfast and my breakfast and coffee! I usually have just one cup first thing in the morning and then save my second cup for either mid morning or early afternoon. I eat my breakfast while she has hers and I may check some emails while we do that.
8:00 – I usually post my daily Instagram post between 8 and 8:30am that I’ve prepped and gotten ready the night before. Then if it’s a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday that means I have a circuit workout planned, so I’ll put on my workout clothes so I’ll be ready to go when I put Emma down at 9. If it’s a Tuesday or Thursday, that means its a running day for me so I usually just take a look at how busy I am that day…if I need Emma’s nap time for work, I will go ahead and head out on a run with her in the jogging stroller by 8:30 or so, so that I can use her 9-10:30 nap time for work. If it’s a lighter day I will just hang out and play with her until 9 then I’ll head out on a solo run. More times than not I am taking her with me during the week.
9:00 – Emma goes down for her first nap and I’m usually done with my workout by 9:30/9:45 just depending on the day. I’ll usually take a quick shower and do some work until she gets up. She wakes up again at 10:30, has a snack and we usually just hang out and play until we take our family walk at lunch at noon!
So that’s about it in a nutshell! If you have any specific questions feel free to leave them below!
xo,
Bess
