Over the past couple of years I’ve really been trying to take better care of my skin and figure out what my skin needs to look and feel its best. It’s super easy to get inundated on the internet about skincare routines and all these different products that you need. To me, it all felt like too much stuff to keep up with! Not just from a number of products perspective but also from the price tag on all of those products. Look, I really like taking care of my skin and putting on product that I think is really going to help. It feels good to feel like you’re “doing something” proactive to help your skin. But lately, I’ve tried doing less…and to be honest, my skin is better than it has ever been and I barely ever breakout anymore. So today I’m going to share my #1 skincare product with you… my holy grail product!
My #1 Skincare Product
My liquid gold product I’m referring to is my Overnight Resurfacing Peel. What I’ve found over the past year especially with my skin is that if I use my peel every day or every other day, that my skin stays super bright and clear. You see, I loathe wearing foundation. Like, it legitimately puts me in a bad mood, lol, but I will put it on for “special occasions” where I think wearing foundation makes you look a bit more polished. But on an everyday basis, I don’t wear foundation. I want my skin to be able to breathe but since I still want my skin to look clear and even, using a product to achieve that is very important.
Why I love It
I love the peel for so many reasons. First off, it lasts SUCH a long time. For reference, I ordered my last bottle of it on March 25th, 2019. It’s now January 2020 and I just had to get another bottle. I use one pump of it every day or every other day just depending on how my skin is feeling and it lasted that long. So while it has a higher price tag than your normal drug store skincare, this is super high quality and also lasts such a long time so I easily think it’s worth every penny.
Another reason why I love it is because it works and is so good for practically every skin type. It’s an acid exfoliator, so it helps clear away dead skin cells and other gunk without needing to scrub. The nasty stuff on your skin basically melts away like magic. For me, it has also helped with:
- Skin evenness: it has helped with any dark spots or discoloration to make my skin tone more even (which allows me to not have to wear foundation, yay!)
- Breakouts: this stuff prevents breakouts and even helps clear breakouts when you do have them, but I notice that when I use it consistently, I barely ever get a pimple.
- Fine lines & wrinkles: I use this as my anti-aging tool too, since it helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin’s glow: overall my skin is just clear and glowy
I can notice a huge difference when I stop using it, too, because I ran out in early January and kept forgetting to re-order! So I went without it for 2 weeks and could seriously tell the difference. So those two weeks solidified that I will continue to use it!
How I Use It
Every night after I cleanse my face, I put on 1 pump of the Overnight Resurfacing Peel for about 5 minutes and let it sit on my face before I put on any moisturizer. After those 5 minutes, no need to rinse off, just put your moisturizer on like normal. And that’s it! I love that I don’t have to wash it off…because I’m kind of lazy and this is one less step. Again I usually use it every night or every other night and I just kind of see how my skin is feeling. When I first started using it I think my skin was getting use to the acid exfoliator, so I started out using it less to ease my skin into it. Now I could probably still go every other day, but I love it so much and see such good results that I like to use it every day.
Other Products I Use
What I’ve noticed in the roughly 1.5 years I’ve been using the peel is that it doesn’t seem to matter as much what I cleanse and moisturize with because the peel is so good at taking care of basically all my other needs that I just mentioned. Right now I am using the last of my Rejuvenating Cleanser (which sadly is discontinued) but it’s a pretty gentle cleanser and the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer… which I bought to try after I ran out of my Adaptive Moisture Lotion. I wanted to see if I liked anything better, and I really love the stuff but it’s on the expensive side so I’m going to see what else is out there. I may go back to the Adaptive Moisture Lotion though because it’s less expensive, still has high quality, clean ingredients but lasts a lot longer. BUT I think that if you are on a budget but you want to use something that really works, put your money towards the Overnight Resurfacing Peel and then just use a more affordable, gentle cleanser and moisturizer of your preference like Cetaphil or Aveeno, something along those lines!
I hope this has helped you if you’re looking for an easy yet effective skincare routine to follow!

Bess

Hey there, does the overnight peel work well for the oily skin? I have very oily skin and have to be really careful of the products I choose as I tend to breakout.

hey! Yes I think so! I actually used to have more combination skin and my forehead would get oily, and it has really helped balance it and I don’t have that issue anymore! I would say its definitely worth trying…and also beautycounter has a 60 day return period so you could try it and return it if you didn’t like it!
