On Friday Craig & I headed up to the mountains to celebrate our second anniversary weekend. We rented a cabin in Blowing Rock which is a couple hours from Charlotte. I’ve grown up going there, and Craig went to App State for grad school in the neighboring town of Boone, so it’s definitely a comfortable and familiar spot for us.
When we got there we unpacked and enjoyed time out on the porch with the most amazing views. Wine & dinner (sauteed peppers, grilled chicken, and roasted potatoes) on the porch was just perfection.
And I drank out of my “bride” glass because I only feel like I can actually drink out of it once a year on my anniversary 😉 I had my mimosas in it on the day of the wedding while we got ready so it’s just something a little special!
That night we stayed on the porch and made a fire. We sat out there for hours!
So did Mav 🙂
The next morning: eggs, toast with pumpkin butter, and coffee for breakfast!
After bfast we went on a little hike near Julian Price lake, the Boone Fork Trail, and even saw a cute little deer at the end. She let us get so close!
That afternoon: back to the cabin for cozy time.
Sweater here.
It was a cloudy afternoon but that was okay! We opened a bottle of wine we got in Italy and then had shrimp pasta for dinner…followed by double chocolate cake for dessert. I meannnnn *heart eye emojis*
The next morning I woke up around 6:30 and had to get up to use the bathroom but didn’t want too because I was so dang comfy in bed. But I did, and as I came back to bed something made me pull the curtain back to just look and see where the sun was or if it was foggy. I was blown away to see this when I pulled the curtain back! I wish pictures could do it justice. I immediately woke up Craig because I knew he would want to see it. We made some coffee and went out and watched the full sunrise. It was the most perfect way to start the day!
Following that, we had pancake breakfast (no pictures, just inhaled, sorry!)
Then we went out for a little run/walk through the hilly, mountain gravel roads. It was mostly a lot of uphills, so we mixed walking in so we could catch our breath. We were out there about 30 minutes before heading back to shower & check out. A pretty full morning all in all!
Our actually anniversary is today, October 8th, so I’m sure we will be having some champagne on the couch to cheers to two years 🙂 So thankful for a great weekend away with my sweet husband!
