This weekend was one for the books, my friends! Thursday morning Craig & I headed to Colorado for a long weekend to celebrate my sweet friend Laura (aka LoMo) marrying her soul mate! We flew directly from Charlotte-Denver and then picked up our sweet ride, courtesy of Lexus, to head up the mountain to Keystone. We lovingly named our car (a Lexus NX300 in case you’re in the market) “Blueberry”. Cute name for a cute car if you ask me!
We shared a townhouse with 6 of my friends/significant others right in Keystone which was so much fun. I’ve been to Keystone before a couple of years ago to ski with Laura & Mack, but had never been in the summer. Holy perfect weather. I definitely understand the allure of Colorado life 🙂
Thursday evening was the rehearsal dinner on Lake Dillon and then the wedding was on Friday up on top of the mountain. It was so cool that they chose that spot, and super fitting for the couple! Riding the gondola up to the top was also pretty fun, despite my being terrified of heights and all! Everything was so gorgeous and the reception was probably TOO much fun, if ya catch my drift. Instax polaroid camera photo shoots, choreographed Salsa dancing, a round of “Thunderstruck” played right in the middle of the dance floor, and a couple of giant inflatable T-rexes making a surprise appearance were just a few of the many fun parts of the evening. But spending time with my best friends is always going to be my favorite.
Saturday we all woke up pretty early (#weold) so we had some breakfast, coffee, and then decided to go explore and do a hike. We did Mayflower Gulch which was about 5-6 miles or so and had great views the entire time. I highly recommend it if you’re in the Keystone/Breckenridge/Frisco area. We even cracked open a few brews at the top…because why not?
After the hike we headed into Breckenridge to grab a late lunch. That is just the cutest dang town I have ever seen. I could definitely spend some quality time there!!
That night we went over to the house the groom rented for the weekend…and the word “house” doesn’t really appropriately describe this place. It was huge but so gorgeous and the most perfect mountain decor you could imagine, plus a huge porch where we watched the beautiful colors of the sunset go down around the mountains. We stayed there hanging out with everyone for a while and then eventually it was time to say our goodbyes. Most everyone was getting up early to leave the next morning.
Craig & I woke up to an empty townhouse since everyone had to leave earlier than we did. I’ll be honest, I was pretty depressed about it. I just started crying right there in the kitchen. It’s hard to be able to be with your besties the past two mornings in a row and then all of a sudden everyone is gone again. I miss those people so much. I wish we could all just live in the same house forever 😉
We packed our things and checked out of the place, then headed to find a little low-key hike to get some steps in and see more of the area. We did a little walking/biking trail that overlooked Lake Dillon and ended up walking for about an hour and a half before deciding to go back to Breckenridge to walk around and grab breakfast. We didn’t have much time but got to walk down Main Street and go to this little place called “Amazing Grace” cafe. We got blueberry muffins and yogurt & granola. It’s a little health foods place with all organic and locally sourced ingredients so I knew I’d like it! If we lived there we’d definitely be regulars at that spot.
Fast forward to driving back through Denver to the airport, dropping off the car and getting to our gate in plenty of time…only to have our flight delayed over 3 hours because United couldn’t find flight attendants. I mean, I guess I understand that it can be hard sometimes but in this particular case, we were all lined up and ready to board when the flight attendants we were SUPPOSED to have came off the plane and one decided she didn’t want to do it and audibly said “I’m just going to call out sick”. Many people heard her say this and that’s the moment she bailed on our flight and caused us all to get sent back to the terminal and wait another 3 hours to leave. Also, she was clearly not sick so I’ll just say that. Anyways, after about 15 delays we finally took off, getting back to Charlotte around 2am. And yes, while that particular aspect kinda sucked…I would do it all again to spend those few days with my favorite people.
So back to real life today! FYI in case you missed it, I’m hosting a little $50 Lululemon gift card giveaway over on this post on my Instagram as a “Thank You” for your support for reading my blog and following/liking/subscribing to me on social media etc! You don’t know how much it means to me.
I hope you have a great week!
