Last weekend I finally made my first ever cauliflower crust pizza. For years (seriously, years) I always thought “that sounds good, I should try that!” but never did because it seemed like too much work what with all the putting the cauliflower in the food processor and what not to “rice” it. Well, enter the glorious invention of steamable cauliflower rice!! It made me finally decide to try to make my own crust, and I’m so glad I did…because now I can share with you the Easiest Cauliflower Crust Pizza Recipe so you can be unintimidated to try it on your own!
Easiest Cauliflower Crust Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
CRUST:
- 1 bag steamable cauliflower rice
- 1 egg
- 1/4 grated parmesan cheese (I actually used shredded and it worked out just fine!)
- Seasoning to taste: Italian, Oregano, Thyme, Salt, Pepper
TOPPINGS:
- Pizza sauce
- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- Whatever else you want!! I added some more parmesan and green pepper on top
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. If using a pizza stone, be sure to preheat the stone in the oven. I have this pizza grilling stone and I love it!
- Microwave steamable cauliflower rice according to package directions, open bag and let cool slightly for a couple minutes (just so you don’t burn yourself with the next step)
- Pour cauliflower rice into a paper towel and squeeze out as much water as you can. I didn’t do a great job at this step and I think it led to the crust not being quite as crispy as I’d like!
- Then combine the “rice”, egg, parmesan cheese and other seasonings to taste, stir in a bowl until well combined.
- Take the mixture and form a crust shape on a piece of parchment paper. I tried to make mine thin crust but you have to be careful not to make it too thin or it might not hold shape.
- Put the parchment paper with the crust on top into the oven on top of the pizza stone (if you don’t have a pizza stone, just use a baking sheet) and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown on top and crispy on the edges.
- Remove from oven and carefully flip over. If you’re using a pizza stone, which I did, now you can flip directly onto the pizza stone without the parchment paper. Allow to bake for 10-15 minutes more or until this side turns golden brown.
- Once the crust is baked, remove and top with your ingredients of choice. Lower oven temperature to 350 for the toppings and let them bake for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is melty to your liking!
- Remove & enjoy!!
Let me know if you try it!
And remember:
