This past weekend was yet another couple of days we spent elsewhere other than Charlotte 🙂 I can’t really complain, we like getting out and doing different things so it works! Craig & I headed to Durham (where I’m from if you’re new here!) to stay at my parents house while they went out of town. My brother’s dog had a pretty big surgery so they couldn’t really board him since he needed more personal attention…so we were the puppysitters! There are far worse jobs, right?!
Comfy travel outfit FTW.
We got in Friday night since we couldn’t leave Charlotte until after 6 when Craig got home from work. The bonus of that is we missed the majority of the insane Charlotte traffic, and we saw a pretty beautiful sky all around us as the sun was going down!
I wish I could have gotten a picture of the sun better…it was directly behind us at one point and looked like it was fake. It was SO big and orange it was amazing.
Since it was kinda late when we got in, we just hung out for a bit and read before going to bed.
One of my sweet friends lent me this book and I’m only a couple of chapters in, but it has already made me laugh out loud and cry! I’ll definitely share more or do a book review when I’m finished.
Saturday AM I got up and made breakfast…eggs, cheese, & avocado.
Then I did a 4 mile run around the neighborhood, then Craig & I took the dogs for a walk (probably another mile or so) and spent most of Saturday doing work in a quiet house. Craig helps me a lot with my BHC stuff since it’s my business now, and he’s a CPA and just really good with numbers and money. He keeps me organized because my brain is much more the creative side and I also really suck at math of any kind, lol.
We took a break that afternoon to go visit my Baba (my mom’s mom!) and it was so nice to see her. I meant to take a picture and then just totally forgot, *face palm*. She is 91 and is just so beautiful and hilarious. She had us cracking up…and she also sent Craig home with a nutty buddy ice cream…she’s got her freezer stocked of them 🙂
That evening we had wine & beer out on the porch before making dinner and sitting down to watch a movie.
My parents were nice enough to make us so much food and leave it in the fridge…chicken, salmon, shrimp, crab cakes! Spoiling us. We each made a plate and sat in front of the TV to start the movie. All the dogs were on their beds and ready to relax!
We rented A Quiet Place and it was kinda scary but I also really love John Kraskinki & Emily Blunt so they were a huge draw for us to watch it. That link above is to the trailer and it makes it seem way more terrifying than it was. I mean don’t get me wrong I covered my eyes in some parts but I’m also a chicken, haha 🙂 It was pretty good. I think they could have done more with it but it got 95% on Rotten Tomatoes which, is a pretty good score! I’d rent it again.
Sunday morning we met some friends for brunch, then headed to visit Craig’s grandpa on the way home. We got back to Charlotte late afternoon and just did some things around the house to prepare for the week. Made taco bowls for dinner, watched a couple episodes of The Office (I really like John Kraskinski?! lol) then went to bed.
That’s pretty much the highlights of this weekend! Nothing too crazy but it was kinda nice to be able to have time to catch up on work stuff and also relax a bit.
I hope you had a great weekend! Do anything fun?!
xo,
Bess
