This past weekend Craig & I headed up to Snowshoe, West Virginia to meet up with our siblings for what we have decided was our 1st Annual Sibling Ski & Snowboard trip 🙂 My brother, Craig’s brothers, and my future sister-in-law met us up there for the long weekend to hit the slopes and celebrate Craig’s 31st birthday. It was my first time going but it won’t be our last!
I wanted to share some pictures of our weekend…Snowshoe really is the best place to go on the East Coast for skiing/snowboarding and it’s accessible by driving for us, even though the drive was over 6 hours 🙂 It didn’t help that it was legitimately blizzarding both when we arrived on Thursday night and when we left on Sunday, so that slowed us down for sure. 4×4 Jeep for the win on that! Seriously…I would highly recommend taking a 4-wheel drive vehicle if you’re going there. We 100% would not have been able to leave yesterday without it. Rent one if you have to!
In case you’re ever heading to Snowshoe and want to know some of our trip details, we rented a condo at Expedition Station right in Snowshoe Village. It is a ski-in/ski-out spot which is so awesome, and there is an equipment rental place in that very building, so you can just head downstairs, rent any gear you may need and then walk a couple steps to the slopes! There is a place called White Rabbit Market right next door that has coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch sandwiches so it’s a great spot. There is a Starbucks right around another corner (we went and got the big box of coffee to bring back to the condo for everyone) and there’s plenty of restaurants in the village as well. On Friday night we just ordered pizza from Cheat Mountain Pizza, which is located just one building away from where we stayed so Craig & his brother just went to pick it up and brought it back to the condo. That night we ate pizza, had a couple drinks, and played “What Do You Meme” which is a hysterical (and slightly inappropriate) card game. Lots of laughs were had all weekend, but especially during that game!!
For Craig’s birthday dinner we went to South Mountain Grille. I made the reservations here because it was the only place that accepted reservations, and I didn’t want us waiting a long time on his b-day. I thought the place was in the village but it was actually a little outside, so we had to take the shuttle there. Not a big deal at all, it’s a 3 minute shuttle ride. But I did think it would be walkable from the village, but with temps in the teens and wind, it’s not an enjoyable walk lol. The drinks were really great there but the food I would say is just average. It does have a bar, so if you’re looking for a place to go for drinks, that might be a good option!

thanks for your first ever comment! Yes 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive on any vehicle is recommended if the weather looks bad. we just so happened to be in a jeep which is why I specifically mentioned that vehicle.
