Good morning & happy 2018!!! A brand new fresh year for each of us. I think it’s exciting. For some reason, I think that the term “New Year’s Resolution” has a negative connotation. As if it’s some fickle or fleeting effort put forth by someone in January, only to see it fizzle out before Valentine’s Day. And then in that case, what’s the point? Or maybe it’s because some people think you don’t need to change who you are just because it’s a “new year” and because it’s expected of you.
Personally, I like the idea of New Year’s Resolutions and setting goals for myself. I have always loved the month of January, possibly because it’s my birthday month (I’ll be the big 3-0 on the 18th, y’all!) but also because it just feels like a fresh, clean slate. It is full of opportunity and optimism. It might not be for everyone and that’s okay! But I wanted to share some of my new year’s resolutions & goals here, partly for accountability on my part, because to me putting it out there in the universe rather than keeping it inside is a much better way to actually stick to something, and also because maybe some of my goals will align with some of yours!
- Spend more time with the Bible. This is something I actually started doing consistently last month in December of 2017 but something I’m excited to continue more into not only next year but the rest of my life. I’ve always been a Christian and I’ve always gone to church and said my prayers and all of that, but this year I would like to really strengthen my faith and relationship with the Lord through daily readings & devotionals. I have started using the “She Reads Truth” app each morning and it has different reading plans you can use to guide your devotionals. I find that my day has a totally different tone & vibe to it when I start the day with the word of our Father. I also have a few other devotionals & Christian books I plan to read this year, and I plan to share those here as well as I read them! If you have any recommendations, please share them in the comments!
- Use my new planner every day. I used to, quite frankly, not be able to function without the use of my planner. I wrote down everything in that thing. Then somewhere along the lines I got too busy to keep up with it, which seems backwards, because if you’re super busy you probably need it more than ever!! And that’s kind of where I am. I am definitely anxiety-prone, so being able to write things down and take them off my mind is a very important thing for me. This year I am using a Day Designer for the first time and I love that it has not only the monthly & daily planner pages, but it also has a ton of bonus pages for gratitude, top 3 To-Do prompts, notes, goal setting worksheets, daily inspirational quotes, combined weekend pages with weekly overview, two-page monthly overviews with a Monday start day for each week, and more. It’s packed with so much fun stuff…it’s an organizer’s dream!! Also comes in a ton of fun cover patterns and even in a “mini” version if you prefer a smaller size.
- Crush 8 Weeks of FITTER. The first ever group started FITTER on Monday 1/1 and I am so excited about everyone’s enthusiasm, but not just that. I am so honored and humbled, as someone that has had a personal training certification for 10 years, that I’ve got this new, motivated bunch of clients ready to work and change their lives & their bodies. Because I know it works if you do, and I have the blueprint for what to do. I just need you to join me in it. You see, although I have maintained my CPT license for many years, and have continued to earn new certifications, I knew working in a gym just wasn’t for me. I used to work at a gym as a trainer, and it was fine. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it, the clients were great and I loved creating workouts for them, but it just wasn’t quite what I wanted. I wanted something that truly felt 100% me and that I could also reach more women who were like-minded with me, basically my FRIENDS! And that’s exactly what I’ve been able to build. By the way, if you want to join, it’s really never too late. You can start at any time and I will always be here as your trainer 🙂
- Continue to grow the blog. By this I mean I want to work hard to bring as much inspiration, assistance, whatever it may be that you are looking for over here in my little corner of the internet. I had a brainstorming session over the weekend and already have so many topics of things I plan to write about and share, and I’m so excited for it. I also want to give back to you, my reader, more than ever with giveaways and other offerings. I am not sure exactly yet what those will look like, but I promise I will do my very best to bring it this year! To help me make sure I am serving your needs as my reader, please do me a favor? In the comments, please let me know what you’d like to see more of on BHC in 2018. I would so greatly appreciate it and I appreciate you more than I can say. Thank you for being here and I can’t wait to continue to grow & inspire one another in 2018!
So, those are pretty much the highlights, nothing earth shattering but certainly things I think will help me grow myself, the blog, and friendships that this platform allows me to create.
Looking forward to an amazing year together!!
xo,
Bess
