Last week, after many months of wanting it done, I finally had my eyebrows microbladed! I wanted to share all of my experience since I received many questions, so I’m going to take you through the process so you know exactly what to expect. If you’re looking for Microblading in Charlotte, trust me I have found the best of the best. I saw Christina Melton at the Nue Brows to Brazilian at their Huntersville location, and I even have a sweet discount for you below, too. Let’s get into it!
Microblading in Charlotte
What is Microblading?
So what is microblading exactly? You may have never heard of it or you may already be in the know, but basically, the microblading process is semi-permanent and involves the feathering of hair-like strokes on a person’s skin to create natural-looking, beautifully sculpted eyebrows. At Nue specifically, where I had it done, the pigment is made of vegetable ink and is matched to your existing eyebrows.
Benefits of 3D brows include:
- They are safer than eyebrow tattoos
- They look more natural and fuller than eyebrow tattoos
- They can last for up to two years with periodic touch-ups every six months to one year
The Process
The microblading process takes in total about 2-3 hours depending on the person. The first step was that Christina sketched on my brows by meticulously measuring my facial angles and getting the brows perfect. Then she let me look at what she sketched so I could make sure they were what I wanted and how I liked them!
Then she applied the topical numbing cream and placed some saran wrap on top to accelerate it. I basically got to lay there for a little 15 minute cat nap (and play with snapchat filters) while I waited for it to kick in!!
15 minutes later Christina came back into the room and we got started!! There’s no down time; I went to my work Christmas party that evening!
Does it Hurt?
I’ve gotten this question a lot, and to me, no it did not hurt! I described it to Christina when she was doing my brows that it sort of just felt like my brows were getting plucked. She responded that she gets that a lot from people actually!! I think the skill of the person that you go to is super important. She’s so good at what she does that she’s able to do it without hurting you. Like I mentioned you do get the topical numbing cream put on first, and Christina told me that if it looks like people are experiencing additional discomfort that she can add more gel numbing cream that is stronger. But I did not even need that and I felt like it was totally tolerable.
Caring for Your New Brows
There is no down time with your brows in terms of getting back to most of your regularly scheduled activities. The biggest thing is that you can’t get your eyebrows wet for 7 days. That means in the shower or, you guessed it, sweating. So I was worried about not being able to workout, but I have still been getting my workouts in. I’ve just not being doing such intense workouts…walking more on the treadmill in between circuits to keep my heart rate down so I won’t sweat as much. Running outside when it’s so cold helps me not really sweat anyways, so it hasn’t been too bad! It’s only for a week anyways…I can’t remember the last time I took a week off from working out, and really I’m not even taking a week off fully. I will 100% be ready and feeling so good to get in some killer workouts starting on Thursday!! Also, every morning and night I put a thin layer of A&D ointment on my eyebrows to help with healing. For washing my face, I just use these wipes to remove my makeup and cleanse without water!
I will go back in 4 weeks for my touch up, and then depending on the person, will only need a touch up once a year or once every 2 years. So pretty low maintenance overall!! Well worth the investment.
Before & After
My before & after pictures say it all, really. Before, my brows are super thin and sparse. They’re honestly hard to see, lol!! Before getting my eyebrows microbladed, I filled in my brows every morning (took me about 10 minutes) with a couple different products.
Before: No Makeup
Before: With Makeup
After: Microblading!
So that is with no makeup whatsoever on my brows, just the microblading. It’s pretty amazing!!
