After posting about some of the Sunday Riley skincare post from last week, I had some questions sent to me about my current skincare routine so today I am going to go through what my routine looks like on a daily basis! Definitely check out that post about the Sunday Riley products because those go hand in hand with what I’ll touch on today.
So to start I’ll sort of describe my skin so you’ll have an idea of what I’m dealing with and why I use some of the products that I do. My skin is pretty well balanced in terms of not being too dry or too oily, except my forehead is definitely prone to some oil/shine. This is much more pronounced when I wear foundation (I’m in the market for new foundation that doesn’t make it so obvious so if you have a matte foundation you like, LMK in the comments!) but lately I’ve not really been wearing foundation because my skin has been pretty clear and I haven’t needed it. Foundation can be such a downward spiral. You wear it because your skin isn’t as clear as you want it to be, but then wearing it can cause breakouts, then you wear it to cover those breakouts…it’s ridiculous. So when I can not wear it I like to not wear it, but for special occasions and things of that nature I like to wear it because I do feel more polished and put together. So Im’ not trying to villianize foundation, I just need to find something more suited for my skin that won’t exacerbate the oil issue. Okay anyways I digress. Other than that, I am definitely susceptible to the hormonal breakouts and will typically breakout around my jawline and neck during that time. Lovely right?! Hormones rule.
But lately I have felt that my skin looks better than it has in a long time (and I will probably get a huge breakout tomorrow for saying that, knock on wood!) and I attribute it to a few things…in no particular order of importance. First off I have been taking a daily multivitamin for a few months now and I take my Vital Proteins Collagen Powder everyday in my coffee. You can read more about that here. I also drink a ton of water which is a must. So those things help take care of your skin and then on top of that, there are some products I use every day and they’re pretty simple things!
- I wash my face after every workout and at night to take off my makeup with these pads. I am OBSESSED with these. One side is exfoliating and the other side is a gentle cleanser. I like to use the exfoliating side first and then turn it over and cleanse with the other side. These make your face baby soft!! It is so important to exfoliate and these have the perfect amount of texture. And the price rules!
- I moisturize daily with this face lotion. I’ve actually been using this for YEARS like since high school I love it so much. It was the reason I decided to try those exfoliating pads. My dermatologist actually told me that salycylic acid is really great to battle hormonal breakouts and I think it has been true because the past few months using this combo, my skin has been as clear as I can ever remember it being. To the point I’ve felt comfortable not wearing my foundation! Which helps me not get those breakouts from oiliness.
- I also wear a daily SPF face lotion that I put on before I apply my makeup. I love this kind and it wears really well under makeup if you need it to but it also totally blends in with your face so you’re fine wearing it on it’s own too.

Other than that, I incorporate those Sunday Riley skincare products but that is about it!! So it is super easy and simple like I said. I think the affordability of my daily skincare routine products makes me not feel bad about investment skincare products like the Sunday Riley Good Genes. Just like everything…balance is key!
