Hey baaaaabes! I dunno about you but I am loving these Q&A’s…it just gives me so many more great ideas on content to share and helps me get outside of my own brain to answer things you are wondering about! You can always email me questions or DM them to me on Instagram 🙂
Do you ever sell your gently-used clothes that you aren’t wearing anymore?
I’ve gotten this question before I think but I get it a bunch so I wanted to say that YES I do! I have a Poshmark account, you can check out my shop here, and I post my clothes there pretty regularly. I have just added a few more things tonight so you can check them out, including some wine colored suede booties, plaid scarf, leather jacket, faux fur vest, and sequin dress! I plan to do a haul of my closet soon because I am running out of space and hubby thinks its ridiculous LOL.
What are some of the things you learned from your first year of marriage? Any tips for singles?
Oh man this is a tough one! I by no means think I am a relationship expert or anything like that; I think I got pretty lucky finding an amazing husband and he makes it all pretty easy 🙂 I even asked Craig to help me answer this and we are both kind of stumped of some enlightening kind of lesson we learned this year. We definitely continue to grow together as partners to achieve our financial goals so we talk about dreams and goals we have for our life and then what we need to do to get there, so we are pretty dedicated to working together as a team in that regard. That is probably the main thing that has evolved since we got married since we didn’t share money before 🙂 but I think we both do a good job of taking care of the other one, helping out around the house and doing chores etc. so the other person isn’t overwhelmed. We both put the other person first which ends up being really nice and we both feel appreciated and loved! We just spend a lot of time together just being with one another because we love that (both of our primary love language is quality time which we just found out! I was curious and wanted to know what we were haha) but we also respect when the other person wants to do something for themselves like my Saturday morning long runs or Craig liking to go fishing or camping, etc.
(Also, don’t steal ALL the closet space teehee)
As far as tips for singles go, I’m also probably not the best person to ask about this either but I would say it’s important to step outside of your little box and try to meet people. I mean you’re just not going to meet someone sitting on your couch every night right? Go out with groups of friends so it’s less intimidating and you won’t feel on the “prowl” lol. I also was never a big fan of going to clubs or anything like that, I think for me if I was going to go out, that just more casual bars or even breweries are more my speed and I think the type of person I would want to meet would be there rather than at a club. So if you hate clubs don’t go there to find someone because chances are the people there like clubs and you already have a difference in things you like! Also, I was set up on a blind date by a friend and that’s how I met Craig, so sometimes you may just have to trust some friends and see if they know anyone!! Or even family….I mean I’m also currently trying to set up my brother…LOL. He would seriously kill me if he knew I put this up bahaha. Such an evil older sister. But I do it out of love and for a good laugh. He loves me don’t worry 😉
I also never got on the Tinder/Bumble/Dating app thing just because I wasn’t really looking for a relationship necessarily when I met Craig but once I did it was all over ha! But I actually know a lot of people that have met on those apps, and even have some friends getting married next month that met on Tinder. So, that is also possible!!
My biggest tip to singles…don’t settle. Don’t start feeling pressure because you’re “x” years old and everyone else has a significant other and you’re tired of being alone etc.. You will find your person that you deserve, just keep your eyes open to the possibilities that the universe provides you…also…if praying is your thing…pray about it! After we met and had dated a while, Craig told me he had prayed for God to send him his person, that he was ready and I had done the exact same thing, I prayed for the person that God meant for me and had faith that in the right time, I would find him. So, I think praying and having faith that all in the right time it will happen, it will. Don’t stress 🙂
Where do you find or suggest finding healthy recipes?
Well for sure Pinterest is my go-to search engine for any kind of recipe healthy or unhealthy. There’s just so much on there!! So many other bloggers and websites are pinned there, you really should need to look anywhere else. You can see my food board here. I also have some recipes of my own under the lifestyle tab on my blog where it says “Food”. I love food and enjoy eating so I’m all about that balance y’all! If that is something that y’all would be interested in, I can start doing more “healthy recipes” on the blog. Let me know!! I am planning to include a variety in my upcoming program too as an added benefit!!
I need healthy food ideas/recommendations! I workout 4-5x per week, but my diet is terrible. My breakast is okay and usually dinners, but I’m always looking for lunch and snack ideas that are pretty healthy, but something I’d actually eat, not just carrots and celery or something like that!
For sure!! I always buy carrots and then never eat them. Honestly I need something to dip them in like hummus but I cannot eat them by themselves for some reason lol. This question goes pretty well with the one below so check that out for some ideas! I am also going to be included a larger variety of recipes, snacks, and meal ideas in my workout & nutrition guide that is coming soon. Be sure you are subscribed to my email list to know exactly when it’s available. I also touched on this in the Q&A #2 post you can read here.
What do you eat on a daily basis to stay fit?
Well I should also say that I am not a registered dietitian so what I eat might not be right for you, but a normal day of eating for me would be something like this:
- Breakfast: Oatmeal with protein powder mixed in OR a protein pancake then coffee with collagen powder in it. You can read my review about my collagen powder I use here.
- Snacks: Protein bar of some kind, I like Square Bars, Luna Bars, and ThinkThin bars, if it’s after a workout I like to mix 1 cup of almond milk with a scoop of protein powder, I also like rice cakes, almonds, unsweetened coconut flakes, strawberries, or smoothies for snacks during the day. I also really like the Kevita probiotic drinks, they are slightly carbonated which I think helps fill me up if I’m feeling a little snacky but not really needing to eat anything or if I’m at a weird time in between meals. They taste so good too I love the lemon ginger one and the mint lime one.
- Lunch: Usually a salad with spinach and arugula topped with a little balsamic vinaigrette and then I like the single serving tuna pouches that come in different flavors! I put that on top of the salad. I also just like to take leftovers from the night before so anything in my dinner category below is game for lunch.
- Dinners: Craig and I like to grill out a lot so we will grill chicken, steak, salmon, tuna steaks, etc. We pretty much always have a veggie like broccoli, brussels sprouts, green beans, peppers. We eat lots of quinoa and brown rice. We keep it pretty simple usually! I also LOVE this salad and it’s a perfect fall/wintery ingredients salad!
What protein powder do you use? Just Vital Proteins? What flavors are best? How do you drink it and when do you drink it?
So I’ve only recently been sent that Vital Proteins whey protein that I mentioned on my Instagram stories if you saw that! But for years I have used and I love Growing Naturals plant based protein. You can find it here. I have it in all flavors…vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. If I had to just pick one flavor of it I would do vanilla because I think it’s just the most versatile in so many different things like smoothies, baked goods, etc. I think it tastes good, the texture isn’t chalky.
If you want to know about how I drink my Vital Proteins collagen specifically, you can read about that here. Mostly just drink it with my morning coffee!! But with protein powder, I like to have some after a workout with almond milk (I just shake it up in a shaker bottle with these to go packets) and I also love protein pancakes for breakfast or just stirring some in my oatmeal!
What earbuds do you use to run and workout in?
Lately I have been using these from Sudio Sweden. They sent them to me a while back and I have been using them since my beloved Jaybird Sport earbuds died. I had been using those for over 5 years with no issues and then finally one side stopped working but I’m not even mad cause to me they lasted a really long time and through A LOTTTT of sweaty workouts! But I have been happy with the Sudio buds. I don’t think they go as loud as my Jaybirds did (and I usually like to blast my music) but let’s be honest that’s probably not great for my poor ear drums, and these still have good sound. They are intentionally designed to “offer full sound transparency, meaning the user can still hear their surroundings without having to remove the earphones. You won’t be caught off guard by unexpected street noise and conversation, even while listening to your favorite tunes.” So this is something I like when I am running I can hear cars & things coming so it’s safe in that regard. I will say they are very comfortable. I’ve only had them for about 4 months or so now, so I can’t speak to their durability yet…I will keep y’all updated. But so far so good and it has good battery life. I also love the white and rose gold 🙂 I have a discount code for 15% off: BESSHCARTER which doesn’t give any kickback to me, just a discount code for you if you want it.
But also Jaybird is a solid choice and I loved mine. I think I cried when they finally pooped out on me. I don’t think they even make the model that I had anymore….they’ve created something even better I’m sure which is amazing. If I had to buy another pair I’d probably get the Jaybirds just because I know how long they last but so far the Sudio ones have been great too.
Thanks for the questions!! I got so many for this week’s post that if you asked me one and it wasn’t answered here, I put it in next week’s post 🙂 OR I may have already answered it in previous posts!! Be sure to check them out…you can find them below:
