I hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend!! I swear, every time a 3-day weekend rolls around I’m like WHY ISN’T EVERY WEEKEND A 3 DAY WEEKEND?! No really I want to know. Who is responsible for this decision making? Anyways, I wanted to give y’all a little recap of our holiday weekend spent with friends in Mount Crawford, VA! Some of our besties live in DC so they found an Airbnb to rent and we were invited to drive up from Charlotte to join, which of course we accepted! One of our couple friends that we are close with is moving to Italy in October for 3-4 years, so this was also our last chance to get quality time with them before they leave. And yes we are already planning our trip to visit them next year 🙂
We got there Friday night pretty late (it’s a 5-ish hour drive from Charlotte) and just hung out and played What Do You Meme?. Have you heard of this game?! It’s like Cards Against Humanity except with memes. It’s pretty funny.
Saturday morning I was up for my run despite the chilly, rainy weather. I got in 7 miles with the rolling hills and farmland that surrounded us. I got pretty drenched but it made my post-run hot shower that much better. And the fact that the rest of the day was spent at a winery…pretty much perfect in my opinion!!

Sunday the weather was much better. Craig and I started the day with coffee and an easy couple mile walk before the group grabbed our inner tubes and hit the river for a float trip. It was quite the adventure as it turns out…we thought we were only in for a short trip and instead we were on the river for over 5 hours, and 3 tubes were popped in the process and our friend Mike ended up dragging us all at the end because the river pretty much stopped flowing. LOL. It was hysterical actually…maybe not for him, ha.
Monday we pretty much left first thing and headed home, sadly. The rest of the group did an awesome hike but with our long drive, we decided to get home instead and settle in. I had to buy groceries and do laundry and all that fun adult stuff. And then Craig & I went to Paco’s Tacos for a little “Monday Funday” date night…

Followed by Target because I am full-on in fall mode and wanted some fall candles. Here was some of my haul:
You definitely need this Cinnamon Chai Latte candle. It is SO GOOOOOD.
I also picked up a new book, All The Light We Cannot See. I hope to start it this week. Has anyone read it? I am thinking of doing a book review for it if anyone is interested in that!
This morning I was up early for my 5 mile run and luckily no owls attacked me today…and I felt especially giddy about the fact there were some leaves on the ground.
I hope you had a great long weekend!! What did you do? Any good highlights??
What good books have you read lately?
PS Don’t forget to enter the Croscill Naturals giveaway!! I am going to extend the giveaway one more day so enter now!! Will announce the winner tomorrow!!
xo,
Bess

That sounds like a lovely weekend! It’s still so dang hot here in FL! Our fall doesn’t really start till Oct, when most of the humidity is gone lol

yeah I feel ya! Unfortunately here in Charlotte it’s pretty much the same way, but I’m just going to force it to be fall haha
