One of the big topics that has been on my mind lately is my skincare. I turn 30 in January and I started thinking about wanting to take care of my skin in a more proactive way so that it is looking good and healthy for many years to come. I do my best to make sure I wear sunscreen every day (I use this kind), wash my face both morning & night, moisturize, etc. But those are really just the basics right? I wasn’t sure what else to do or where to begin. There are so many products out there it’s hard to know what to do or what will be right for you. So I started doing my research and came across something called a HydraFacial.
What is a HydraFacial?
HydraFacial MD is an advanced synergistic system that provides continuous exfoliation and infuses high-concentrated serums deep into skin to provide vital nutrients that help with fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, acne, dehydrated skin, and texture issues.
So it seemed like a good place to start! This treatment is great for all skin types and to be quite honest, I don’t even know what “skin type” I am!! Because really my forehead is prone to being oily, and the rest of my face is pretty balanced but I definitely fall victim to the hormonal acne around that time of the month mostly around my jaw line and neck which I hate!! The great thing about the HydraFacial is that you can have your neck treated too, which is what I did.
You can watch a couple of videos about HydraFacials on the Jon Ric Med Spa website here. They will even show what it’s like to get one.
My HydraFacial Experience
I’ll be straight to the point here, I loved it. It’s not one of those super relaxing zen massage type facials but rather sort of a combo of being able to relax but also as someone cleans your face up from all the crap stuck in your pores! The esthetician cleanses your skin, so don’t worry if you show up with makeup on like I did. They will take it off for you. They cleanse, exfoliate, and use this tool that basically sucks blackheads out of your skin and other impurities. This was my favorite part because since I workout and sweat so much, I can still get blackheads no matter how hard I try not to get them! The esthetician walked me through each step as she was doing it so I knew exactly what to expect. It was gentle for the most part, I did feel just a slight tingling/burning on my face after the exfoliation part. It wasn’t bad at all and I don’t think it’s a big issue but I do like to just give everyone a heads up just so you know what to expect!! It’s not painful and it subsides in a few minutes.
Here’s my mug after the facial. A little redness but that went away within the hour. I should also mention there is no downtime with this facial!!
I could tell immediately that my pores were smaller and tighter, blemishes had been essentially wiped away, and I was seriously just glowing. My skin has never felt better. It has been about a week and a half now since I went and I already can’t wait to go again. I am also planning to take Craig…ladies: it’s a great option for the men in your life too!! Stay tuned for that and for my follow up visits!!

This sounds amazing. I want to do one now! I am so bad at getting facials done and need to make more time for it. By the way, you are gorgeous without make up on. You should never wear it!
