This weekend we went to Durham for a brief trip on Friday night because, for weeks now, we have been sneaky with one of our friends for planning a surprise birthday present for her hubby. So we packed up the car, Mavy included of course, and headed to D-town from Charlotte on Friday.
LOL at Maverick. He usually just lays down and sleeps back there but this was getting to be towards the end of the trip and he was ready to get out I guess!! He seriously hates not being as close as possible. He’s legit 3 feet away from us and is having separation anxiety.
Since my parents are in Durham we were able to just stay with them and it was nice to be able to see them and our friends in the same weekend. Mom loves that I made her the photographer…
It only took about 40 pictures to get that one. Haha…see outtakes for proof:
We met up with the group at Ponysaurus Brewery in downtown Durham. It was a warm night but so beautiful out. We saw a gorgeous sunset and just had a great time.
Also, they have wine there, FYI. I love with breweries have wine because as much as I want to like beer, it’s just really not my thing. I try!! I always taste Craig’s, but I just would rather have wine. So, yay for them having Chardonnay!
Saturday morning I did a run around my parents neighborhood, 5 miles in the sweltering & suffocating heat. I wish I was kidding. It has just been so heavy and humid the past few weeks. Ready for cool fall weather, y’all!
Sunday was a easy, cozy day at home but I was knocking out a long to do list for the blog! Wrote some posts for the week, wrote my email newsletter, scheduled some of my Instagram posts, etc. I also did the grocery shopping for the week and laundry, you know, those fun real life chores!
Candles and cozy spaces always make me feel more creative though. I swear lighting a candle and getting comfy gets me in the zone to write and create!!
By the way, if you aren’t already subscribed to the newsletter, then you won’t know that I gave a preview of things to come this week. One of which is I will be sharing “How to Start a Blog” since it’s a super popular and frequent question that I get all the time, so I figured it would be the first resource I create for you all on here. I’m really excited about it so be sure to check back!! Also be sure to leave me any questions you have about it so I can be sure to cover it.
Tonight Craig and I are heading out to grab pizza and drinks with a couple of our best friends here in Charlotte. They are moving tomorrow to go to Atlanta, and we are so sad!!! Emily is my bachelor/bachelorette-watching partner so I guess I’ll be going back to watching alone. We are going to watch one last time (for now) together tonight!
What was the highlight of your weekend?
What do you do to get into a good head space both mentally and physically for creating/writing/getting in the zone??
xo,
Bess
