I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now because I often get questions about my favorite healthy snacks and which bars I like to eat. The healthy snack post would encompass a lot more food than just bars so I wanted to really focus on protein bars in this post!
I eat at least one protein bar every day. I try to just keep it at one, but sometimes on busy days it’s just more practical and easy for me to carry it in my bag when I’m on the road then to pack things that need to be in a cooler, etc.
So, in no particular order, these’s are the bars I eat frequently. I should also mention that Square Bars are also in this list, I just ran out of them to take a pic with 🙂
What I look for in a bar is for them to have these qualities, approximately:
- Around 10g of protein at least
- Less than 250 calories
- No crazy ingredients
- Gluten free
- Taste good!
So obviously some of these are a little out of those numbers…LUNA bars are probably the ones I eat the most because I can find them at a great price at Target and I love how they taste and they are the perfect amount of filling. I do wish they had slightly more protein but 8g isn’t bad. Larabars have significantly less protein, but have around 200 calories and generally a little more fat. The ingredients list for Larabars is the smallest of any other bar. The Coconut Chocolate Chip one that is in this picture has 200 calories, 10g of fat, 27 carbs, 4g fiber, and 2g protein. The ingredients in it are dates, chocolate chips, sugar, cocoa butter, coconut, cashews, and almonds. And that is the longest list I’ve seen…the Coconut Chocolate Chip bars are my fave to have for dessert 🙂
I find the thinkThin bars to be SO filling. They will easily keep me full for about 3-4 hours which is saying something because I’m generally always hungry about every 90 minutes, lol.
What bars are your favorites? I’ve heard great things about Rx Bars and Perfect Bars but haven’t tried yet!!
xo,
Bess
