Y’all…these are not low calorie nor are they “healthy” by nutritional information standards but they are delicious AND they’re good for your practice in balancing treats with an active lifestyle and having a healthy relationship with food! I don’t profess to be an expert on the subject but like everyone else I have had my own battles with food, I’ve been in places where I’ve eaten too much or eaten too little or beaten myself up about doing whichever it was that I had done! I just think it’s important to eat the damn brownie every now and then 🙂
Especially when it has red wine in it…then you should definitely have it.
Here’s the recipe! I made a few tweaks. If you use a sheet pan it will be more dense and brownie like. I used a red blend wine and I thought it worked nicely. I also just used almond milk instead of buttermilk which lightens it up a bit but almond milk is creamy enough to make it work. Also instead of vegetable oil I used coconut oil, same measurements of each! It’s just what I had on hand.
I did not follow the icing recipe, I don’t have the proper tools for that aka a mixer! So I put strawberries & sugar & butter into a food processor until it was a nice consistency. It was more of a strawberry glaze but it worked well since I ended up making brownies instead of a layered cake. So basically I was just winging it. Ha 🙂
Pour yourself an actual glass of wine and cut a yourself a brownie & enjoy it! It’s also pretty perfect for Valentine’s Day!
What is your favorite sweet treat? I think anything that combines wine and chocolate will be hard to beat in my book!
xo,
Bess
