As you may or may not have gathered from my posts here, living a healthy lifestyle is important to me. I am always interested to learn new things and to find ways to better my own health and of those around me, if I can! I share my workouts every week and healthy recipes that I enjoy so you may also find something that works for you and that you can incorporate into your life. After my lovely friend Teri introduced me to Beautycounter, I was intrigued and decided to learn a little more about it.
What immediately jumped out to me is how the cosmetics industry is virtually unregulated when it comes to what ingredients they put into their products. Now, I used to go about my merry way, not considering what toxic or harmful chemicals I was slathering all over my body, my face, my nails, or my hair. It’s certainly a scary thought to not really know. With Beautycounter, all of the ingredients have been screened for safety. The company mission is to get the safest products into the hands of everyone, whether it be directly through the products or by working with legislators to pass and enforce more health-protective laws for the cosmetic and personal care industry. Now that’s pretty cool, huh? A company, built by women, working to make the change so that all products are required to be safer for us all.
Beautycounter has a list of over 1500 chemicals that are on The Never List. These chemicals can harm cells or organs, cause neurological damage, and/or alter important biological systems, and you won’t find them in Beautycounter products.
After deliberation and for full disclosure, I decided to become a Beautycounter consultant. Not to be all salesy and try to push products on you, but to genuinely be able to share things I use and enjoy. I’m able to learn more and get better training on the products as a consultant.
Now, as you also likely know, I am all about balance, and about not letting “perfect be the enemy of good”. What I mean is, just because you can’t do a 100% overhaul of every product you may currently use, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take a look at what you might be able to swap out for a healthier/safer option. I’m not saying you need to go throw away every current cosmetic item you own, because I certainly have not done that. Just see what you may be interested in swapping out to take those steps to safer skincare for yourself. That was sort of my whole approach personally.
Here are the products I’ve started out with in my steps to safer skincare. I give a little description & why I like them!
Nourishing Rosewater Mist. You have seen me post about it on Instagram and here on this blog! It’s such a unique product, one that was one I added in rather than serving as a replacement to something else. But I tell you what, I didn’t know what I was missing and now I LOVE it. “Wake up your complexion with our skin-softening toning spray, made with organic rose essence, purified water, and moisturizing sodium hyaluronate. Spritz it on to set makeup or whenever your skin needs an instant pick-me-up.” Rose has amazing benefits for your skin and this smells so good.
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. This is one that is a must-have, especially when it comes to having that effortless, beautiful dewy complexion. It has SPF in it too! Not only that, but “Black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C reduce the appearance of age spots and enhance skin brightness, while sodium hyaluronate promotes firmer, smoother-looking skin.” It was an Allure Best in Beauty Award Winner. I wear shade #3 if that helps you pick out a color! I’m happy to help you find your right match if you need guidance. Just holler at me 🙂
Lip Sheer. This stuff is a best seller for a reason!! “This silky-smooth, long-lasting formula is lightweight yet ultra-moisturizing for the perfect mix of sheer color and polished sheen. Every shade was color-tested to ensure that each hue complements all skin tones.” And the new color, Terra, is so gorgeous. I need to stock up on that stuff! All the colors are beautiful though you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Color Sweep Brush Duo. These come in different color combos but I like the Tawny/Whisper combo the best for my skin. It has a bronzer and a pink blush. So pretty and luminous.
Lengthening Mascara. All gals need a good mascara. If you wear nothing else at all a little mascara just helps those eyes pop!! And as I’ve been learning more about safer cosmetic products, it especially scares me what goes near/in our eyes. This one is another Allure Best in Beauty Award Winner. Pair this with the Tinted Moisturizer, the Brush Duo, and a touch of that Lip Sheer and you are good to go!! Set it in place all day with a spritz of the Rosewater 😉
Nourishing Cream Cleanser. Everyone needs a go-to skin cleanser to take the day & your makeup off. This is an “ultra-gentle daily cleanser. Lightweight yet deeply moisturizing, the creamy formula contains witch hazel to tone skin, and coconut oil and aloe to help hydrate.” It makes my skin feel so smooth and honestly is quite relaxing!! Maybe because I use it at the end of the day to wash off my makeup so I’m already tired, but this stuff just feels so good.
Beautycounter doesn’t just deal with your gorgeous face! There’s also the Bath & Body products, of which an amazing deal is the Body Collection Set (Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Body Lotion) and then there’s the Limited Edition Be Mine Valentine’s Day Duo (Lip Gloss + Nail Polish) that is so cute. I’ve read some research on how harmful nail polish can be to our bodies and it’s kind of scary. Just another reason I’d rather be safe than sorry and try to incorporate a non-toxic alternative if possible!
Also, anyone who makes a purchase of at least $55 or more (before tax and shipping) will receive a free gift of their choice of either the lengthening mascara or the charcoal cleansing bar! That promo ends 1/31. *Beautycounter Band of Beauty members are not eligible for this free gift*
On top of that, Beautycounter is having another promotion…Spend $200 now thru Jan 31st and receive a FREE Hydrating Body Lotion in Citrus Mimosa and a Body Oil in Citrus Rosemary ($97 value)!
The BEST NEWS? You can combine both offers to get both free gifts!! That’s $150 in free gifts. Simply head over to the website, check out the amazing products and pick your faves. Place the order, and once you have, please forward the email confirmation to me to this email: the fit fave at gmail dot com letting me know what gifts you choose!

I’m a beautycounter buyer already and I’m obsessed with the charcoal face mask!
thefitfave@gmail.com says
Yes!!! Everyone loves it!!!
Alyssa says
I LOVE that beautycounter is thorough about the ingredients they use in their products…that’s really important to me. I’ve heard a lot about the Charcoal mask, so I’m interested in trying that!
thefitfave@gmail.com says
It is definitely refreshing to find a company that actually cares about the ingredients they put in their products!! That is what so drew me to Beautycounter!!! Everyone raves about the Charcoal mask…that would be a great choice 🙂 The charcoal bar too…which is great since it’s an option as the free gift!

I’d like to try the nourishing eye cream. I’m not currently using one and it sounds divine!
thefitfave@gmail.com says
It is!!! I have very sensitive eye area and have developed under-eye bags over the past year that I had been battling to try to find something to help with them. So many products just irritated my eyes and made them water nonstop. This has yet to do that and it is smooth going on, and I can tell it starts smoothing out those bags almost instantly. I’ve been happy so far 🙂
Amanda B. says
I am always interested in natural and safe products! I have very sensitive skin and am always wary to invest in a new product before being able to try it. This would be the perfect opportunity!
thefitfave@gmail.com says
Hi Amanda! Yes my skin is so sensitive too (especially around my eye area) and I have found the mascara and eye cream finally don’t irritate or make my eyes water, they feel like I have nothing on (in the best way!) but still make me feel beautiful, and even more naturally so!
Erin Hines says
Ah – I’ve been looking for an excuse to transitiion my skin care products to beautycounter! I currently use skincare products that totally safe that I get from a small distributor but my wedding make-up artist used all beautycounter products and I fell in love with all of their products! I’m especially interested in their eye nourish cream as this make-up artist has recommended it to me! But would love to have an excuse to transition over to using their products!!
thefitfave@gmail.com says
Erin- Yes!!! That is so cool your wedding make up artist used all BC. I think people love their products so much because since they are safe ingredients, our bodies are more accepting of them and they just work better with our natural selves. People GLOW wearing and using Beautycounter … And I use the eye cream (I swear 28 was the year of developing under-eye bags) and I think it really helps, AND it doesn’t make my eyes water (which other brands I’ve tried in the past did!) and it feels so good.

I would love to try the rosewater mist. I recently entered my 30s and want to pay more attention to what i am putting on mu body!
thefitfave@gmail.com says
Absolutely!! It’s definitely never too late to start incorporating safer and healthier products into your lifestyle! I am glad I’ve started to become more aware now too!!
Megan B. says
The fact that they are trying to make safer, more natural products! It wasn’t until I started reading more about BeautyCounter that I realized I try to put better food in my body, but I’m forgetting about everything else! I’d love to try some of the facewashes, charcoal bar (I’ve heard good things), or the tinted moisturizer!
thefitfave@gmail.com says
Yes agreed! That’s the scary part because we don’t really know what is harmful out there, but at least with BC you know the ingredients in their products have been screened for safety! I have also heard amazing things about the charcoal bar (which is awesome that you can get a free one with a purchase!!) and I LOVE the tinted moisturizer and have only ever heard other people say the same!!
Melissa says
I’d love to try Cream Cleanser I have some dry spots . I have tried lots of different things and not much is working !
Alyson Bowen says
Ahhh I love this! I got the tinted moisturizer and I LOVE it. I will order some stuff tmrw to support your efforts!!! I want to try the lipstick! Have you tried the charcoal face mask?!! I want to try it and wanted to know what you think! XO
thefitfave@gmail.com says
I actually haven’t tried Beautycounter’s charcoal mask yet, however I love other kinds I’ve tried in the past, so this one is definitely on my list to get next because a non toxic version would be a dream!!! I’ve heard GREAT things about it… as well as the charcoal cleansing bar!!
Jenn says
Definitely would want to try the tinted moisturizer! and some new eye makeup…I’m always conscious about what I’m eating but never paid much attention to what I’m actually putting on my body so I like the idea of trying out new, safer products
thefitfave@gmail.com says
definitely!!! I am the same way! Trying to be more mindful of what I’m putting on it as much as I am what I put in it!!
Victoria says
I’m addicted to their body oil and would love to try their lip balm as well!
Heidi says
No toxins and I would try the tinted moisturizer!
Carrie Kibler says
I recently started using beauty counter products and am loving them! I’d like to try the charcoal mask but love everything I’ve tried so far!
Laura says
Over the past few years I have focused more attention into what I put in and on my body. When getting ready with girlfriends I have tried a few beauty counter products and love them! I want to gradually replace my skincare and makeup products with beauty counter and would love to try the cream exfoliator and the charcoal mask.
Caroline says
I have seen so many people post about Beautycounter and they swear by it! I think we all need to pay more attention to A) what we are putting on our skin and B) how to properly use certain skincare items. I like the transparency of Beautycounter. I would love to try the Nourishing Rosewater Mist!
Jennifer says
I definitely love the idea that I don’t need to squint at the ingredients or do research to find out if a new product I’m trying is verified safe. My derm gave me a list of ingredients to stay away from or try not to use too often, and it’s such a pain. I would love to try the giveaway samples, because that’s stuff that goes on your face every single day.
Theresa says
I must try the rosewater mist! I also want to try the makeup remover…anything to make the process less harsh on my skin is a win!
