It’s my birthday! Today I turn 29 years old. I’ve found myself over the past year or 2 forgetting how old I am. Is that common? Seriously…the other day I asked Craig, “I’m turning 29 this year right? Not 28? I’m 28 right now?”…Ha! Please tell me I’m not the only one that does this!! 🙂
My last year in my 20s seems like a pretty big deal but not one that I can really easily put into words. I think back to my early 20s and sometimes it’s hard to believe I’m the same person. Don’t get me wrong, plenty of my interests and hobbies are the same, but me as a person? I am different. Very different. In a good way I think. I am immensely more confident in myself and this has definitely had a downstream effect. Because of that, I’m happier, I’m more relaxed, more willing to accept life’s challenges. I am stronger and I believe in myself. If you read my old blog you may remember some of those old years, and why I ultimately wanted to end that blog and that chapter. Sometimes, a fresh start is exactly what you need!
I am so happy with the person I am today and where I am. I hope to continue to grow as a person, inspire myself, hopefully inspire others, be a great friend, a hard worker, and a genuine individual. I’m blessed and grateful everyday for my husband, my family, my friends, our home and our life, and even more so blessed to be starting another year of trying to be the best person that I can be and live the happiest life possible!!
So, speaking of living the happiest life possible…enter this flourless chocolate cake. HEART EYE EMOJIS Y’ALL!
Birthdays must involve chocolate cake and rosé!
(also, when the cake ingredients include chocolate, butter, sugar, & whiskey…you’re off to a great start. don’t worry if you don’t like whiskey, it’s optional)
Craig helped me bake this beauty (we used this recipe). It’s legit the best thing I’ve ever made and it was really easy.
Paired with Rose of course <3
Really the only thing I did differently with the recipe was omit vanilla extract (because I didn’t have any, oops) and then add sprinkles and chocolate syrup on top. Birthday cakes require sprinkles.
The texture is so good…so dense and decadent!! Definitely a must-try recipe. I do, however, highly recommend a springform pan to bake it in!! I got this one and it arrived in just 2 days and was perfect.
Here’s to 29!
xo,
Bess

Girl…you definitely aren’t alone! I turned 27 last week – now I keep forgetting if I’m 26, 27 or 28! Hope your birthday was fabulous 🙂
