I’ve spent the greater part of my life figuring out how to get ready quickly after a workout and, at a minimum, look presentable and not smell bad. Ha. My college years were literally spent running between soccer practice (FYI if you’re a new reader, I played in college), class, the weight room, the training room, etc. and now I continue to need to find the quickest ways to be able to get my workout in no matter how busy my day may be.
My process is continuously improving as I find newer, better ways and products to add into my routine! I feel like I have the whole going from “sweaty to ready” thing down pat at this point and I have it running like a well oiled machine.
I have people at work all the time asking, “didn’t you just go to the gym? How do you look like that now?” as if you have to continue to be a sweaty mess all day long. Alas, you do not. People tell me that is why they won’t work out at lunch because they’d be too sweaty. FYI I go hard every workout and drip sweat! I know it can be done!! So this post is in part to shatter that excuse for you…you’re welcome 🙂
Here’s the after a workout/before getting ready again…still sweaty as you can see:
Then here’s after! Sorry for the XL pic of my face Lol.
Here’s what I do and what you need in your gym bag!
To start, check your weekly workout schedule and see what workout you have on tap for the next day! Pack your gym bag the night before so you just have to grab & go the next morning. Easy.
And what to put in said gym bag? Obviously your workout clothes, sneakers, water, headphones, etc. and then all of your post-workout products that will help you refresh & look and smell great after 🙂 Just so you know, this process requires no shower. Yes I said it…I might not shower after a workout. If you do these steps below you won’t need to!
- A compact hair dryer and a round brush. Blow dry the sweat out of your roots! I’d avoid flipping your head over, for some reason it makes me start sweating even more so I’d recommend not doing that since the point is to stop sweating 🙂 Also maybe use warm or the cool setting on the dryer.
- Dry shampoo & dry conditioner. Spray some of this into your hair and brush through!
- Face/Body wipes. Use these all over your body in place of a shower.
- Deodorant.
- Easy Makeup application. When your priority lies with having more time to workout than to go through the getting ready process, it helps to have some products that do the work for you. This tinted moisturizer covers imperfections on your face and gives you a beautiful, even glow!! Honestly, if that’s all you put on, you’ll be good to go. Maybe a quick brush of some blush and mascara…done!
- Nourishing Rosewater Mist. I am obsessed with this stuff. It’s a skin-softening toning spray that smells AMAZING. Rose has so many great benefits for your skin…first off, it’s great for all different skin types as it helps to balance your skin’s pH. It can help reduce redness, get rid of acne, and hydrate and revitalize skin. Not to mention the smell is so lovely and can help you feel less stressed. Love! I spray this stuff on my face any time I want a pick me up, but always after those mid-day workouts and before I go to bed. It feels so good and refreshing as it goes on, and can even help with fine lines & wrinkles. This is made with organic rose essence…it’s just dreamy. A spritz of this after reapplying your makeup from step 5 will complete your process!
You may have noticed some of my products I’ve listed are from Beautycounter. I was recently introduced to this company, its products, and it’s meaningful mission by my sweet friend Teri. I love the goal of the company to provide safer skincare to everyone, free of harmful chemicals. I am hoping to gradually start replacing many of my current products with safer ones that have been screened! Let me know if you have any questions!

Bess
