Despite record heat in Charlotte for this day (in fact today’s high of 88 tied the same day’s record in 1926. Heard it on the radio today…hello I’m ready for scarves and boots and leggings!!) I was seriously feeling some fall stuff all day.
I started the day by picking up my favorite fall treat from Starbucks (“treat” in that I will usually brew my coffee at home or get it free at work) for some pumpkin goodness. I love a pumpkin spice latte as much as the next girl but honestly, a grande has just under 300 calories and I’d rather eat a cookie or something if I’m going to be inhaling that much sugar. I just like the pumpkin smell and flavor. So, instead I like to get a grande blonde roast and get 1 pump of the pumpkin spice syrup. Saves about 250 calories and still gets me that pumpkin fix!
This afternoon I went on a 4 mile run. Leaves were on the ground but again, it was a bit warm. So I just tried to pretend like I wasn’t sweating from the heat but instead focused on the pretty leaves & colors. I reminded myself that pretty soon I’ll be complaining about how darn cold it is, and I much prefer warmth than the wintery cold (aka February in North Carolina) so I’ll take it.
It’s definitely fall inside my home! I actually repurposed these glitter gold pumpkins that were decor at my wedding and now they are permanent decorations I will use for many autumns to come in our home. Add a fall candle and some twinkling lights–wait! Don’t forget the cabernet sauvignon!– and you’re good to go in my book!!
Off to recreate this situation this evening. So happy tomorrow is Friday!!

Bess
