I recently found two pairs of gorgeous lace up, cut out sandals that I loved. I read through the reviews of each and searched online, but I still wasn’t sure which ones I wanted to get as a fun new spring/summer shoe.
Since they weren’t available in the Nordstrom stores near me, I decided to just order both and try them on at home, then return the one I didn’t want to the store. PS- I love that Nordstrom lets you return things to the store. I think their customer service is bomb.
So, the contenders in today’s shoe matchup is this Vince Camuto lace up sandal (seen left, below) and this Jeffrey Campbell wedge sandal (on the right).
I’m going to compare these based on these variables: Material, Heel Height, Comfort, Color, and Price
MATERIAL: To me, the Vince Camuto shoes are a softer, less stiff material. They are suede where the Jeffrey Campbell wedges are leather. I think the leather is pretty stiff, and the laces on the wedges are the same leathery material. I found it hard to lace up the wedges and tie them to where they would actually stay tied. I only walked around my condo in them and they were already untying. I read reviews that the leather breaks in eventually and they get softer, but the Vince Camuto shoes come already soft, ready to wear, with easy to tie laces that stay. Winner: Vince Camuto.
HEEL HEIGHT: As a girl that is 5’9” barefoot, I don’t typically need or like heels too much over 3 inches. But the description on the website said that the Jeffrey Campbells were only 3.5 inches, so I was willing to try them out. However, once I got them I could tell that they had definitely been incorrectly measured by whomever did the description. They are 4 inches at least, possibly even a little higher. I felt that the wedges being this high with not much platform made it hard to walk and made the back of the shoe dig into my achilles. The Vince Camuto is true to the description, right about 3 inches high, and to me its a perfect height. They feel like I’m wearing flats! The block heel is sturdy so its just about the same feeling as flats. Love it! Winner= Vince again.
COMFORT: Comfort for me largely depends on heel height and material, and since the Vince Camuto already won both of those categories, it wins this one by default. They are just comfortable right off the bat and after walking around in them all day. The wedges weren’t even comfortable to me walking around in the condo for 2 minutes. Again, they may break in and be fine, but I don’t like to risk it with my hard earned money if they are never actually wearable.
COLOR: The colors of both are beautiful, but the Jeffrey Cambpell wedges are definitely more of a pinkish/blush nude color than an actual neutral nude. The Vince Camuto color I got is “pucker up” and it comes in 5 other colors. I am thinking I might need some black ones or the sugar plum. So cute! The wedges come in two other colors: white and black. There’s no real winner here, just your preference. I was looking for something more truly tan/neutral and not blush, so for me Vince Camuto was best.
PRICE: I’ll be honest, the prices aren’t really that far off, but the Vince Camuto is $16 cheaper. So…winner.
So there you have it, the winner was the Vince Camuto! They sell out quickly just as an FYI so if you wanna, snag them before they’re gone 🙂
PS- If you’re looking for a wedge that is shorter but still like that lace-up look, I think this shoe and this shoe are both super cute.
It’s almost time for wine, bachelor, & yoga pants. Have a lovely night!
